Phillipians 4:11-13 (NIV) - I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
Do you know someone no matter what, they are always crying and complaining? They are never satisfied with their situation. They could win one million dollars and still find a reason to complain. I wonder if this has anything to do with learning to be content no matter your situation? I am not saying it is easy.
Philippians 4:12-13 says I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. This last sentence is key.
If we all truly believe this, no matter our age, the barriers we face, our past or negative thoughts that surface, we would quickly overcome complaining and be content no matter what may be going on in our lives. Look at the situation as a gift, be content, and know that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. I encourage you to read Philippians 4:10-20.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that I can do all things through you. To look to you to supply the strength I need to be content and persevere through all situations. I pray that all your children remember that through you, who give them strength, they can do all things. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
