As I continue to grow spiritually, I constantly seek guidance from the almighty and seek his word, his truth. I say the Lord's Prayer daily, and today I thought about temptation. What causes us to be weak and fall prey to the enemy's temptation? We find all sorts of excuses for why we give in and why saying no to temptation was so difficult.
I recently heard a sermon by Pastor Rick Warren. In this sermon Pastor Rick discusses that by saying that you were helpless, you were weak or simply had no choice but to give in implies that you are calling God a liar. He promised he will always offer you a way out when faced with temptation. Your thoughts is where the battle begins. The sermon also discussed that when God gives us an idea, it's inspiration and when the enemy plants an idea it's temptation. "Every moment of resistance to temptation is a victory."
We must be aware of our thoughts and make careful choices daily. We each have the ability to activate God's power daily by knowing his word, his truth and his promises. God fulfills all
His promises. Which will you choose today, temptation or inspiration? I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians 10. Hope it inspires you to resist temptation.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that you are always near when I face temptation. That I have the option to yield to your power to resist temptation. I pray that all your children remember that you are always near when they face temptation. That they have the option to yield to your power to resist temptation. If they fall into temptation, you always provide a way out. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!
