Happy Friday!
Ephesians 1:11- In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.
So many of us ask the question, what is my purpose? Pursuing and prioritizing your purpose is no simple task. It takes some decades to find their purpose, while others find it very early in life. There are so many competing factors that distract us from finding and walking in our purpose. The book, The Purpose-Driven Life by Pastor Rick Warren discusses that we are not here for our own our purpose. We are here to serve God’s purpose and his needs. So thinking of yourself when seeking your purpose may land you in a maze with no exit.
Every person possesses gifts, talents and abilities. I wise woman I met briefly in a casual conversation said to me that many fail at this thing called life because they are out of alignment with their purpose and fail to set the right priorities. We waste our abilities, talents and gifts by not keeping our priorities straight and remaining laser focused on finding our purpose and then walking in it. This made sense to me. Of course I will lose my way if I am focusing on what is in it for me instead of what God wants me to do for him and his Kingdom.
We spend a lot of time seeking fulfillment through achievements, success and a materialism mindset when God has already pre-planned our purpose. Ephesians 1:11 says, In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will. It seems that strengthening our relationship with God may be a good place to start searching for our purpose. Then remember your purpose is not about you, it is for a much larger purpose. Don’t think small, start thinking big and think eternity.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that you predestined my purpose. That my purpose is to serve you and your Kingdom. To decrease me and increase you. I pray that all your children seek you as they pursue their purpose and priorities. That they are reminded that you are the author of their purpose. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
