"I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice"- Abraham Lincoln
Justice
Isaiah 56:1 - This is what the Lord says: "Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed."
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you want to seek justice? You take matters into your own hands. You try to get back at someone who hurt you, who you feel has done you wrong, or someone who has done wrong to your loved one.
Today's verse guides us to maintain justice and do the right thing. There is no need to do wrong to someone in return for the wrong they have done to you. It serves no one any good. The word states do the right thing because the Lord's salvation is close at hand and his righteousness will soon be revealed. This message to me is one of hope.
Next time you are faced with the urge to repay someone with the same or worse wrong than they have done to you or your loved one, remember, this is not necessary. The Lord's righteousness will be revealed. Live according to God's law. He will handle the rest.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that doing the right thing and living by your law is the way to go. I pray that all your children maintain justice, do the right thing, they don't repay evil for evil, and they remember your righteousness will be revealed. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!
