John 14:27 (NIV) - "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
It is interested how so many leaders and others in the limelight say they seek peace, asking for world peace or sometimes even peace that surpasses all understanding. I sometimes wonder if they are themselves taking the necessary steps to live and breathe that peace. I ask, am I living and walking in that peace that Jesus gave to me or am I walking in the peace that the world gives to me?
Sometimes it takes a simple reminder to awaken us to our inheritance. To the promises made to each of us here on earth. Today's verse serves as a reminder that we have the power and have been given a gift. Yes, that gift is peace...Jesus said in John 14:26, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
There is so much devastation occurring in this world. Yes, it is easy to despair and focus on what is happening in the world. I encourage you to continue to pray and hang on to the promise that will never be broken... "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." I encourage you today to anchor on the peace given to you by the almighty.
Thank you for the reminder to not let my heart be troubled or afraid. You left me peace and I will believe this no matter what may be happening in this world. I pray that all your children seek the peace that you freely left them and that they remember you do not give as the world gives. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen
