Society today seems to have lost patience. Everyone wants everything done now or done their way. When they don't have whatever it is they desire, they complain, take matters into their own hands, retaliate or pout. One definition of patience is "the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset." Patience is also a fruit of the Spirit.
Can you imagine activating patience in the most uncomfortable situation? Going through any uncomfortable situation without whining or complaining? We all have the power to activate patience and self control (another fruit of the Spirit) to persevere during tough times, during the wait, during uncomfortable situations. One point to note: complaining during the wait is different than speaking out about something that is totally wrong based on the truth, the facts.
As your patience is tested today or another day, I encourage you to remember the saying, "Patience is a virtue." Before you react to a situation, take the time (be patient) to collect all the facts. Today's verse serves as a reminder to be patient in your troubles, let your hope keep you joyful, and pray at all times. Patience, trust, hope, faith, and love are all tied to the spirit and good character.
Thank you for the reminder that during tough times I can activate patience, a fruit of the Spirit. It reminds me that You remain in control. I pray that all your children activate the gift of patience you have given us. That they are reminded that you are in control and that they allow you to drive. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen.
