DON'T FRET THE OLD OR THE NEW YEAR 

"Treat every day as a New Year"

Happy Sunday! Happy New Year!!!

Psalm 90-14 (NIV)- Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

As another year comes to an end, some may spend today reflecting on the bad things that happen this year, some may focus on the great things that happen this year, and some may just focus on celebrating the passing of another year. I wonder, why do we fret and fuss about the passing of another year? Shouldn’t this just be another day to rejoice in God’s grace? Should the focus be to reflect on living our days in a such a way that they count regardless of the passing of a year or not, regardless on whether we met our goals or not? Should the focus be on whether we meet God’s goals for us rather than the ones we set for ourselves?

My girlfriend and sister shared this with me, “Start with God, Stay with God, End with God.” Is this where our focus should be daily. The passing of the time here on earth is irrelevant if we are not doing these three things, start with God, Stay with God, End with God. If we are not strengthening our relationship with God, If we are not thanking him for his daily grace does the change of the calendar year really matter? In the midst of the good, bad, and the ugly there is always God’s grace.

Today’s verse is a reminder that God satisfies us in the morning with his unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Therefore, I encourage you to not fret about the passing year or the one to come. God’s unfailing love, his faithfulness and grace greets us each morning. Focus on living your days in such a way that they count for God’s glory, for his kingdom, and for eternity.

Dear God,

Thank you for the reminder that your unfailing love satisfies me each morning regardless of the change in days or calendar year. That I shall sing for joy and be glad all of my days. I pray that all your children remember that your unfailing love satisfies them each morning. That they focus on living each day in a easy that counts for your glory, your kingdom and for eternity. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
