LOVE

When all else fails... Love WINS!

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

I often think what is missing from leadership, leading yourself and leading others, is love. How can you lead someone or something you do not love? How can you hurt and take advantage of someone you say you love? It seems hypocritical, don’t you think?

If you do not love yourself, how can you love and lead yourself and others? If you do not love your brothers and sisters, how can you lead them? We are not created to hate, envy, chastise, or be jealous of each other. We are created to LOVE.

The word reminds us, "If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing."
Ponder this, leaders must be patient, kind, not envy, not boast, not be too proud (aka humility), must not dishonor others, not self -seeking (never about you), not easily angered, keeps no record of wrong doing (forgiving), does not delight in evil, it always protect, always trust (this is one of the biggest areas that threaten leaders), hopes always, and always persevere.

Do you exhibit these traits as a leader? Need to improve on any of these key love principals needed to successfully lead your tribe? I once saw an acronym that defined the word LOVE as LIVING OUR VALUES EVERYDAY.

I leave you with this reminder.

Love is patient. Leaders must be patient and understanding.
Love is kind. Leaders must not use their positions to wield authority with blustery, cutting words.
It does not envy. Leaders must elevate people. They should not be threatened by the success of others.
It does not boast. Leaders should boast of the successes of their people rather than their own success.
It is not proud. Leaders remain humble.
It does not dishonor others. Leaders must honor and respect all people. Always.
It is not self-seeking. Leaders must serve others, not themselves nor their own agendas.
It is not easily angered. Leaders must have control of their emotions aka self-control. They should not be quick to anger.
It keeps no record of wrongs. Leaders must help others when they fall, not berate them, or keep a tally of people’s failures. Yes, great leaders forgive easily.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. Leaders do not partake in evil or permit it on their teams. They speak and operate from truth.
It always protects. Leaders must protect their people the way parents protect their children.
Always trusts. Leaders must believe the best of their people and trust them. Begin all relationships from a place of trust.
Always hopes. Leaders must be positive about their people and their mission. Leaders are hopeful.
Always perseveres. Leaders must not give up on their tribe even when the going gets tough.

Dear Father,

Thank you for the reminder that to lead, we must love. I pray that all your children remember that love then lead. That they remember the words in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 and must importantly that they remember that God is Love. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!

AMOR

1 Corintios 13:1-4 - (NVI) -Si hablo en lenguas humanas y angelicales, pero no tengo amor, no soy más que un metal que resuena o un platillo que hace ruido. 2 Si tengo el don de profecía y entiendo todos los misterios y poseo todo conocimiento, y si tengo una fe que logra trasladar montañas, pero me falta el amor, no soy nada. 3 Si reparto entre los pobres todo lo que poseo, y si entrego mi cuerpo para que lo consuman las llamas, pero no tengo amor, nada gano con eso.4 El amor es paciente, es bondadoso. El amor no es envidioso ni jactancioso ni orgulloso.

A menudo pienso que lo que falta en el liderazgo, guiarte a ti mismo y dirigir a otros, es el amor. ¿Cómo puedes dirigir a alguien o algo que no amas? ¿Cómo puedes lastimar y aprovechar de alguien que dices que amas? Parece hipócrita, ¿no crees?

Si no te amas a ti mismo, ¿cómo puedes amarte y dirigirte a ti mismo y a los demás? Si no amas a tus hermanos y hermanas, ¿cómo puedes guiarlos? No estamos creados para odiar, envidiar, castigar o estar celosos unos de otros. Estamos creados para AMAR.

La palabra nos recuerda: Si tengo el don de la profecía y puedo comprender todos los misterios y todos los conocimientos, y si tengo una fe que puede mover montañas, pero no tengo amor, no soy nada. Reflexione sobre esto, los líderes deben ser pacientes, amables, no envidiosos, no alardear, no ser demasiado orgullosos (es decir, humildad), no deben deshonrar a los demás, no deben buscarse a sí mismos (nunca de usted), no se enojan fácilmente, no tienen registros de malas acciones (perdonar), no se deleita en el mal, siempre protege, siempre confía (esta es una de las áreas más grandes que amenazan a los líderes), espera siempre y persevera siempre.

¿Exhibes estos rasgos como un líder? ¿Necesitas mejorar en cualquiera de estos principios clave del amor necesarios para liderar con éxito a tu tribu? Una vez vi un acrónimo que definía la palabra AMOR como VIVIR NUESTROS VALORES TODOS LOS DÍAS.

El amor es paciente. Los líderes deben ser pacientes y comprensivos.
El amor es amable. Los líderes no deben usar sus posiciones para ejercer la autoridad con velo, cortando palabras. No tiene envidia.
Los líderes deben elevar a la gente. No deben ser amenazados por el éxito de los demás. No se jacta.
Los líderes deben presumir de los éxitos de su gente en lugar de su propio éxito. No es orgulloso. Los líderes siguen siendo humildes. No deshonra a los demás.
Los líderes deben honrar y respetar a todas las personas. Siempre. No es la auto-búsqueda.
Los líderes deben servir a los demás, no a ellos mismos ni a sus propias agendas. No se enoja fácilmente.
Los líderes deben tener control de sus emociones, también conocido como autocontrol. No deben ser rápidos para enojarse. No guarda registro de errores.
Los líderes deben ayudar a los demás cuando se caen, no los reprendan o mantienen un registro de los fracasos de las personas. Sí, los grandes líderes perdonan fácilmente. El amor no se deleita en el mal, sino que se regocija con la verdad.
Los líderes no participan en el mal ni lo permiten en sus equipos. Hablan y operan desde la verdad. Siempre protege.
Los líderes deben proteger a su gente como los padres protegen a sus hijos. Siempre confía.
Los líderes deben creer lo mejor de su gente y confiar en ellos. Comenzar todas las relaciones desde un lugar de confianza.
Los líderes deben ser positivos sobre su tribu y su misión.
Los líderes son optimistas. Siempre persevera.
Los líderes no deben renunciar a su tribu incluso cuando las cosas se ponen difíciles.
Los líderes están llamados a AMAR.

Querido Padre,

Gracias por el recordatorio de que para liderar, debemos amar. Rezo para que todos tus hijos recuerden eso, amar y luego guíar. Que recuerden las palabras en 1 Corintios 13: 1-3 y lo mas importante, que recuerden que Dios es AMOR. Te pido esto en el nombre de tu hijo Jesús. ¡Amén!
