Fathers play a critical role in each of our lives. They provide for us, instruct us, and are there for us through the good and the bad. Being a father is a tough job. Can you imagine the whole world relying on you day in and day out? Can you imagine lights, camera, action on you every minute of the day? Living up to so many expectations while leading a family?
Today's scripture reminds fathers not to exasperate their children; instead, to bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Whether you are a father, father-to-be, or serve as a father figure to someone, be encouraged that God has provided you with all the tools and instructions to lead your children and family in excellence and in truth. Seek Him daily to help you in your walk and in turn help your children walk a life of excellence.
Please note: excellence is not perfection. Perfection is focused on "doing the thing right," according to others' perception. Excellence is about “doing the right thing,” regardless of your audience. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 guides each of us to leave a legacy of God's law by committing ourselves to His commandments then teaching them to our children and their children, etc.
Dads, I encourage you to continue to do the right thing.
My hats off to all dads, fathers and fathers-to-be. "Learn it. Live it. Lead it." Lead your legacy!
Thank you for all fathers, including those who are in heaven. I thank you for all my brothers who read this today and most importantly thank you for all men preparing to be fathers. Continue to be the force that brings them up in the training and instructions of the Lord so they can do the same for their children and their families. I pray that you strengthen all families and lead them to your will and your way. That all your children follow your law so they may live in truth and in excellence. I asked this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!
