James 1:4(NIV) - Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
You may have heard this phrase before, “failure is not an option.” That phrase has been linked to NASA and their space program. “The makers of a documentary interviewed NASA officials about the problems that arose out of the Apollo 13 mission. When asked, one of the officials stated that when there were problems that needed to be addressed, they would lay out possible solutions and that failure was never one of them.”
I like to think of failure as “innovation in action... if one thing doesn’t work, keep trying till you find what works.” Yes, our thoughts and sometimes those close to you will tell you to stop at your first attempt that doesn’t work. Thomas A. Edison was quoted saying, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
Today’s verse serves as a reminder to let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Are you working on something new, a new business, a new relationship, a new project? Whatever is your “new” thing, I encourage you to keep going, keep growing. Persevere!
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder to let perseverance finish its work so that I may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. I pray that all your children experience success in all that do. That they let perseverance finish its work so that they may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
Learn it. Live it. Lead it.
