Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)- Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Merriam Webster defines infinity as unlimited extent of time, space, or quantity. Have you ever thought about infinity, without limits, not even been limited by the sky? Some of you may recall the Pixar animated film Toy Story where one of the featured characters Buzz Lightyear used the catchphrase “to infinity and beyond. I decided to look up the meaning of this catchphrase.
Scientist, philosophers and bloggers try to put their own spin on the meaning of this catchphrase. I, however, found this discussion in a blog written by Vincenzo Dimonte in 2014 that caught my attention. It reference Buzz Lightyear and it talked about being trapped in our human limits, without escape but in the end, it is just an illusion. Although this is an animated film, Buzz is helping us recognize the illusion, challenging us to change our perspective, break free and go! Leaving all our chains behind, and going where it was previously unthinkable and unimaginable.
I have a dear friend that wrote a book entitled Unveiling the Illusion and this is generally the same thing she challenges us to do through her book, recognize the illusion, break the chains, and unveil. All through God’s truth. Stop limiting what God can do in your life. Yes, he can take you from homeless to being a billionaire, he can take you from death diagnosis to abundant life, he can fix your brokenness in a flash, he can change your unbelief to belief. I am sure many or all of you could serve as a witness to this truth. I know I can. Today’s verse, is a reminder that our God who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory be to God!
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that I should never put limits on what you can do in my life. That you are able to do exceedingly and abundantly much more through your mighty power at work within me, to accomplish infinitely more than I might ask, think, or imagine. I pray that all your children free themselves from human limits and are reminded that through your mighty power at work within them, you are able to accomplish infinitely more than they might ask, think or imagine. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
