Romans 12:16- Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Living in harmony is not an easy task. You and I are different. No one is the same make or model. You are each unique and wonderfully made. Sometimes, conflict ensues when you try to get everyone to be in accord with your thoughts or to do things the way you want them done. If we all did things the same way, can you imagine how uninteresting your life would be?
Harmony is described as “a combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect.” Note the word “pleasing.” Sometimes finding harmony requires complete surrender or as I sometimes say, it requires you "playing only when your instrument is required.” Remove “self” and watch how living in harmony becomes easier.
Today’s verse instructs us to live in harmony with one another. To not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Living in harmony requires courage to navigate life in ease. I have a dear friend who shared that when she wanted to be reminded of this she would play the song “ Pata Pata.” For those not familiar with the song, here is the link https://youtu.be/gsDfHvIFwiU (I do not have rights to this song.) I encourage each of you to live in harmony every day.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder to live in harmony with one another. To not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. To not be conceited. I pray that all your children heed your instructions to live in harmony with one another; that they should not be proud, but willing to associate with people of low position. To not be conceited. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
Learn it. Live it. Lead it.
