Psalm 27:14 (NIV) - Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
These days, everyone expects things to happen in an instant. We now have shortcuts to prepare quick meals. We have trains that can take you from one location to the other in half the time it took before. You now also have drive-thru restaurants to get your food in a hurry. It seems that we have become a “microwave” society. Where everything must happen now, we set a plan and expect it to happen overnight. When it doesn’t happen right away, we are disappointed, we simply give up during the process.
Waiting is mentioned a lot in the Bible. I remember my Grandmother saying that when you see something mentioned often in the Bible pay attention. This is a clue. Waiting is part of our journey to maturing spiritually, mentally and emotionally. However, our flesh is very impatient, the stillness drives us crazy and we stop waiting. We think being still and waiting for guidance from God is wasting precious time or it is something we must do to get what we want.
Waiting is part of your growth process? Consider when you plant a seed. You must wait for it to grow. Waiting may be the most opportune time to mature. To grow in hope, patience, faith, and gratitude. Today’s verse is a reminder that no matter how long the wait, be strong, take heart and wait for the Lord. Use the time to strengthen a few spiritual muscles. Wait and grow!
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder to be strong, take heart and wait for you. To use the wait to grow and strengthen my spiritual muscles. I pray that all your children remain strong, take heart and wait on you. That they take the wait time to strengthen their spiritual muscles. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
