2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)- For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Do you ever wonder what gets in the way of you doing the next great thing? Can you imagine wanting to know the world and you are afraid to fly? Do you ask how can I get over the fear of flying or do you give up on knowing the world?
I admit it, it is simpler to do the easiest thing, not face the fear and give up on the idea of ever getting to know the world. Think about that. What if you decided to challenge that thought of “fear to fly” to the greater desire to know the world. Think about what thoughts, true or false, may be preventing you from taking the steps you need to reach your goals.
Today’s verse is a reminder that for God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. I encourage you today to consider if your thoughts, beliefs and fears are getting in the way of you attaining your next greatest goal. Remember the spirit of fear and timidity were not given to you.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that you did not give me a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. I pray that all your children embrace the power, love and self-discipline you gave them. That they let go of the spirit of fear and timidity. That they get out of their own way. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
