Job 23:10 (NIV) - But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
Testing your faith through trials is hard. Plain and simple. Some trials are tougher than others. The Bible mentions in several places the process of refining gold. There are several detailed stages involved in purifying gold. Part of that process involves heat. The gold is placed under fire to separate pure gold from other less precious metals. It is sometimes referred to as removing impurities.
Life trials to me are kin to the process of refining gold. Impurities are removed so our worth shines. Our character is strengthened. We go through the fire and some even feel like they won't make it when the heat is turned on high. They wonder is God with me or say why me? See the story of Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego from the Bible book of Daniel 3.
Today's verse reminds us that God knows what you are going through, he is with you and knows the way you are taking. He is testing you, your faith in him, and separating your impurities. 1 Peter 1:6-7 says - In all this, you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Dear God,
Thank you for removing my impurities by bringing me through the heat. For the reminder that it all strengthens my character and my faith. I pray that all your children trust you through all their trials and believe that with obedience they will come out with their character strengthened and shining like gold. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!
