Proverbs 8.35 (NIV) - For those who find me, find life and receive favor from the LORD.
Have you ever heard the statement “I am blessed and highly favored” I hear that from so many people but when you look up the meaning, those who make this statement are not walking in the favor they claim to have. Favor is defined as gaining approval, acceptance, or special benefits or blessings.
I recalled hearing a story of a teacher who taught her students to claim God’s favor daily. One day, one of her students came to class disappointed saying that God’s favor was not with her last evening because she had to park her car on the other side of the school campus instead of in front of her dorm room. The student later found out that due to a storm that same evening all the cars near her dorm room were damaged from debris from the storm. Her car was untouched.
This gave the student a fresh prospective on God’s favor. That what she thought was meant for harm was actually favor. Today’s verse is a reminder that for those who find the Lord, find life and receive favor from the LORD. V32-36 gives us instructions on how to maintain this favor, listen and keep God’s ways and do not disregard, seek God and his goodness and do not fail to find him as you will cause harm to yourself. Today I encourage you to read Proverbs 8 and do not forget that you are blessed and highly favored.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder of your favor and the instructions on how to remain in this favor. I pray that all your children will learn that they are favored. That they must listen, obey and keep your ways, seek you and your goodness for those who find you, find life and receive favor from you. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
