Happy Wednesday!
1 Peter 3:3-4 ( NIV) - Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
Many of you may have heard this saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I thought about how God uses nature to whisper to us, to teach us and to feed us. He uses it to show us the many colors life has to offer, to teach us that life has seasons, and he uses it to grow the crop we eat.
What abundance God has provided through nature. What beauty! When you have a hard time seeing the beauty God has provided through you and around you remember all that he allows to unfold right in your midst. It costs you nothing to experience this beauty. What if I told you that the same beauty you see through nature, God sees in you?
Today’s verse is a reminder that your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. I encourage you to read 1 Peter 3.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that my beauty should not come from outward adornment. It should be of my inner self. Same as my happiness which comes from my inner self. I pray that all your children see that beauty comes from their inner self and not from outward adornments. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
