Joyful Sunday & Merry Christmas!
Luke 2:10 (NIV)- But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
Jesus came to liberate us from all sin, the lies of the enemy and to save us all. It is sometimes perplexing that we know these truths but still persist to believe the lies of the enemy, the lies we tell ourselves and pursue the flesh desires rather than that of the spirit. We are destined for greatness but pursue lesser because of fear.
Despite our disobedience, our refusal to praise, honor and give God thanks for all he does for us each day, he still willingly showers us with his Amazing Grace. His grace to help each of us achieve the greatness he intended. This is love. Like the song Amazing Grace by John Newton says, that saved us when we were lost, when we were blind, through many dangers, toils and snares his grace has brought us safe thus far, and grace will lead us home. Another portion of the song reminds us that the Lord has promised good to us, his word secures our hope, he will be our shield and portion be as long as life endures.
Today’s verse is a reminder of the Angel’s message when the glory of the Lord shone around the terrified shepherds; Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Jesus’ birth was great news and came to bring us great joy. Since we should have great joy, we are destined for greatness, why do we continue to let fear keep us in bondage, rule our hearts and our minds? I encourage you today to read Luke 2.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder of the good news that Jesus’ birth came to cause me great joy. That there is no need to fear. I pray that all your children have great joy, fear no longer and embrace the freedom that Jesus came to give us all. That they embrace God’s Amazing Grace and the greatness to which they are destined. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
