Strength in numbers

There's strength in numbers. Once we show the world that we're together, they can't stop us.”

- Cory Hardrict

Hebrews 10:24-25(NIV) - And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching...

I have a few friends who have expressed to me reasons why they choose not to congregate to worship God and strengthen their faith. Some feel they are worshipping with hypocrites, others rather be alone, some just don’t know why but they simply chose not to worship. I reflected on the joy of gathering with family during holidays, special occasions and just because moments. The strength that is replenished by being “in community”, in fellowship with others cannot be described. The best description that comes to mind is “iron sharpens iron” when you gather together with family, with all your brothers and sisters.

God knew that trying to live life solo would not be easy. That we would continually fall and stray from his purpose for our lives. He knew that in order for the plans he has for us to succeed, we will have to have the support and encouragement of our brothers and sisters. He instill this when he created the earth and created Eve to be with Adam. He knew this when he created animals to travel in a pack. However, it seems some of us forget the basics.

Today’s verse is a reminder that there is strength in numbers... And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching... I encourage you today to not give up gathering together, no special occasion needed. There is strength in numbers.

Dear God,

Thank you for the reminder that there is strength in numbers. To not give up on gathering together and to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. I pray that all your children do not give up on gathering together and that they encourage each other toward love and good deeds. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
