Patience is understanding

Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting. — Joyce Meyer

Proverbs 14:29- Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

As I sat in traffic one day, I became aware of the importance of patience. We all have experienced impatience at some point in our lives. If you don’t believe me, think of babies. If you delay their feedings, they will become impatient and will not hesitate to let you know about it. Patience is sometimes defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.

Yes, I can imagine that promotion you have been waiting to receive has not come through, so you are leaving your job. That business you are starting is taking too long to take off. It requires too much work and sleepless nights and you are tired. That relationship you are trying to repair, the other party is not cooperating. That project you are working on, there is another daily. So many reasons to become impatient daily.
Today’s verse is a reminder whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly. I encourage you today, to practice patience. Patience is truly a virtue and if today’s verse is a fact, whoever is patient has great understanding.
Dear God,
Thank you for the reminder that patience is a sign of great understanding. I chose not to display folly. I pray that all your children remember that lack of patience displays folly.
That practicing patience demonstrates their great understanding. That patient is indeed a virtue. I ask this in your son Jesus’ name. Amen!
