Emotional Maturity

"Fear is the glue that keeps you stuck. Faith is the solvent that sets you free."

- Shannon L. Alder

1 John 4:7 NIV- Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

The word love is a word that makes life so complicated. Some believe that love only relates to romance and sexual attraction. Others believe you can only love someone if they are in your tribe, is someone to whom you are affectionate or it is someone you like or know. If none of these apply, then there is no reason to love that person.

Love defined is not solely related to affection, sentiment or romance, it is part of our fabric, how we came to exist and key to who we are. Love flows from God. We are created in God's image and God is love. As our relationship with our Father grows and strengthens, so does our love for every being on this earth. No matter their make, model or sin, we learn to love all that belongs to God.

Today's verse is a reminder to let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. To me, as you mature spiritually, you mature emotionally. They go hand in hand. I encourage you today to love one another no matter what someone says, does or the past that transpired. Exercise your spiritual and emotional maturity today and everyday. Find it in your heart to love like Jesus.

Dear God,

Thank you for the reminder that I am created in your likeness. That we must love one another as love comes from you. Everyone who loves knows you. I pray that all your children will continue to strengthen their relationship with you, to live and love in your likeness. I ask this in your son Jesus' name. Amen!
